High Concept:
"A concept for a DotA hero based on the Faerie Dragon model." Other Info: Winner of the community contest "From model to hero" Role: Author Derived from: Defense of the Ancients Some of my original design can be found today in DotA 2 |
As a big fan of ARTS (action real-time strategy) games, one of my proudest accomplishments was a contribution I made to the game DotA. Back at a time when I wasn't yet considering pursue a career as a game designer, I was very much involved in the game's community, submitting ideas and offering feedback. One day it was announced in the forums that the next hero to be included in the game would be created from the best concept submissions. And so I embraced the opportunity, designing a character based on the Faerie Dragon model that would have innovative and versatile support abilites.
After several rounds of voting by the community, a few concepts were selected to be presented to IceFrog (DotA's designer) who would then base the final design on them. The final result character was a combination of abilities from two submitted heroes, with mine being one of them. I had created the ability that would be known as Puck's ultimate: Dream Coil.
